PAP therapy, whether it is CPAP, APAP or BIPAP, is proven to be the most effective therapy in treating sleep apnea. The benefits of using a PAP machine cannot be overstated, and for patients that use therapy every night, they can be positively life changing. Sleep apnea is hard on your heart, body, and mind, and going untreated can not only ruin your day to day life by leaving you with no energy, but can put you at higher risk for high blood pressure, stroke, heart attack, and various other conditions.
On the other hand, despite all these risks many patients just cannot tolerate PAP therapy. You may try several different mask options, use a humidifier, sleep at different angles, etc, but for some people it just never happens. A lot of patients decide they cannot sleep with the machine at all, and decide to go without treating their sleep apnea.
While nothing is as effective as PAP therapy for treating sleep apnea, there is another option. In 2013, our affiliate brick and mortar DME company began the Alternative Treatment Program (ATP). With ATP we have built a network of Dental Sleep Specialists across the nation to bring you the option of Oral Appliance Therapy for your sleep apnea. The oral appliance fits in your mouth similar to a sports mouth guard, and is effective as a treatment for many patients with obstructive sleep apnea.
Most patients have to have tried PAP therapy unsuccessfully before insurance will cover the oral appliance. If this is something you’re interested in trying, or even just looking into it, please give us a call at 1(844)361-0718 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
